My workshops usually focus on helping artists become more confident, creative–thinking outside the box–trying new techniques, colour combinations and just seeing the possibilities that the media presents. I have done workshops in Finland, Portage la Prairie and in the Greater Vancouver area. The work space available sets the size of the class. Since collage including Chigiri-e is my favorite, I discuss paper choices, composition and blending. One April I gave an Artist’s Talk about Chigiri-e with a Powerpoint presentation sponsored by the Surrey Art Gallery Association.
Last Fall 2017 I did a couple of demos for Opus in their Coquitlam store. First I discussed paper qualities. Then I did a chigiri-e demo followed by a discussion with examples of collage as taught by prominent United States artists. March 6th I did a demo for the South Delta Artists Guild. This piece called Lonesome Lake is in for framing. I will show it in the Burnaby Artists Guild Spring for Art April 6th evening, the 7th from 10 am to 6 pm and on the 8th from 10 am to 5 pm. The raffle painting Deer Lake Heron is Chigiri-e , too.
I will do demos for Opus on Granville Island on July 28th from 11am to 12:30 and from 2pm to 3:30pm. Check out Opus’s listings.
**My next workshop will be at 1710 Gallery in Tswassen, BC. Please register earlt. It will focus on Chigiri-e and other forms of collage. It is from 10am to 2pm on April 19th [Sunday] 2020.
